About Us
Pulaarspeaking.net is a social and cultural website dedicated to the Fulani people. Our hope is to make the Fulani more known to the outside world by presenting a more accurate picture and an insider perspective to the Pulaar History and culture to help you appreciate the most culturally diverse ethnic group in the world.
There are more than 20 African countries, from the costs of Atlantic Ocean to the red-sea, where Fulani are counted as native citizens. In recent decades the Fulani have immigrated to many countries both inside and outside the African continent such as Europe, the Middle-East and more recently to North America.
With such presence in varying geographical zone, and cultural environments one cannot fail to imagine how much the Fulani culture was stimulated by its encounter with such diverse cultures, but also how much they enriched the cultures of those societies and people they happen to share the same geographical area.
Even though we can speak of different Fulani cultures because of their different environments, they still all speak the same language (Pulaar/ Fulfulde), share the same identity the “Pulaaku” and take pride to the same history and equally admire the same heroes.
This unity in diversity, in its entire dimension, is what this website is offering to share with its readers, be they Fulani themselves who want to be in touch with what happening in the Fulani world in a daily bases, or be they admirers of the Fulani culture who want to learn more about them.
